"Instead of another ‘clean’ debt ceiling increase, this legislation is a responsible step forward that supports our troops, ensures that promises to seniors are kept without saddling the next generation of Americans with an unsustainable and dangerous national debt, and removes the threat of a default on the country's financial obligations for the next two years."

WASHINGTON - Congressman Adam Kinzinger released the following statement regarding House passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act:

“I supported this budget agreement, not only because I believe it is in the best interest of the United States and the hard-working families across this nation, but because it prioritizes spending to strengthen our national security, protects our economy, reduces our deficit, and secures long-term reforms to the nation’s entitlement programs.

“While I do not agree with every detail in this deal, in a divided government there is never going to be a perfect deal. But instead of another ‘clean’ debt ceiling increase, this legislation is a responsible step forward that supports our troops, ensures that promises to seniors are kept without saddling the next generation of Americans with an unsustainable and dangerous national debt, and removes the threat of a default on the country's financial obligations for the next two years."
