Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-Channahon) released the following statement after voting in support of legislation to protect outdoor recreational activities on public lands.

“Hunters and fishers shouldn’t have to worry about complying with needless red-tape when they’re out enjoying our country’s great outdoors,” said Kinzinger. “While it’s unfortunate that we even need to pass a bill to preserve some of America’s oldest outdoors traditions, I’m glad to see the strong bipartisan support to protect these rights from government encroachment.”

The Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement Act (H.R. 3590) is comprised of eight bills that remove bureaucratic road blocks and protect outdoor recreational activities on public lands. Among other things, the legislation defends the right to bear arms on certain public lands and restricts the Environmental Protection Agency from regulating the use of traditional ammunition and tackle used on public lands. The bipartisan bill passed the House today 268-154 and now awaits action in the Senate.
