Washington, DC Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement in response to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announcement that it would withdraw the ‘Waters of the United States’ (WOTUS) rule, with plans to rewrite it:

“The repeal of the WOTUS rule is good for property owners, farmers, businesses, and rural communities here in Illinois and across the United States who would have suffered under the burdensome overreach of the federal government. I’m pleased to see the EPA and Army Corps rescind this flawed rule and start over with input from states and local communities.

“Today’s announcement on rolling-back the WOTUS rule is an important step in restoring certainty to our regulatory process and I look forward to seeing a new WOTUS rulemaking move forward.”
