Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) joined his House colleagues in voting for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which passed with strong bipartisan support. Upon the bill’s passage, Congressman Kinzinger released the following statement:

“As threats continue to grow around the world, we must be prepared to effectively defend our country – and that starts with a strong military. Some highlights of the NDAA include modernizing and enhancing our defense, increasing the size of our armed forces, and providing our troops and their families the resources they need.

“An amendment that I co-sponsored calls for deploying boost phase intercept missiles for our defense capability no later than 2020. This will create a more effective missile defense system designed to bring down nuclear missiles at their weakest stage, and has become increasingly important as we face threats from North Korea and Iran’s nuclear capability.

“I’m proud to support the FY18 NDAA legislation just as I’m proud to support our troops. With readiness, resources, and reforms, we will strengthen our military and build on our ability to carry out America’s mission.”
