Washington, DC – Following his vote on the House funding package, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released this statement:

A continuing resolution is the government’s way of kicking the can down the road. It’s a short-term fix to a bigger problem. It’s critical that we come to a long-term solution to our budget and our financial debt.

“But today, I voted in favor of this package – I voted to keep the government open and running, with determination to work on a larger solution with my House colleagues. I voted to help our fellow Americans who are suffering after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

“To shut the government down would cost American taxpayers millions of dollars, and would plummet our economy, putting us at even greater financial risk than we already face.

“As we move forward on relief, recovery, and this continuing resolution, I look forward to President Trump using his deal-making skills yet again to ensure Congress can pass a full funding bill to bring stability to our military and to support the programs our communities desperately need.
