Washington, DC – In response to the breaking news that the Kim regime of North Korea launched another intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement: “This latest missile launch by North Korea is the most far-reaching yet, and their capability to do this directly threatens the United States homeland. With an unhinged, power-hungry tyrant at the helm, North Korea has left us with very few options in the realm of diplomacy. Despite imposing greater sanctions, the Kim regime continues to threaten us and our allies – and we must defend ourselves by having a credible military option on the table. “In order to have a credible military option, we must fully fund our armed forces so they have the means, manpower, and technology to protect and defend American lives. This latest ICBM missile test by Kim Jong-Un has crossed the line, and we must be fully prepared to enforce those repercussions.” NOTE: In July, the House of Representatives passed the Department of Defense Appropriations Act and the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act through the H.R. 3219, Make America Secure Appropriation Act. To date, the Senate has not taken this package up, nor any other appropriations bills for FY2018. |
