MANLIUS — National Honor Society members from Bureau Valley High School attended the Youth Leadership Conference at Illinois Valley Community College on Oct. 20. The event was hosted by Rep. Adam Kinzinger with speakers Jerry Reinsdorf and Illinois Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti. Each speaker had their own point to make, and each point was crucial in becoming a better leader and a better person in general.

Kinzinger was the first speaker with a message about not giving up, anything is possible. He talked about his successes and his struggles through school, the Air Force and running for office.

Reinsdorf’s message was hard work comes with rewards. He discussed how the world has changed since he was a kid, but that no matter what hard work will always brings rewards.

Sanguinetti’s message was no matter where you come from and what you do, the only thing preventing you from accomplishing something is you. She talked about her family struggles growing up and she used that to push her to accomplish everything thing that she has.
