Washington, DC – Today, President Trump signed the FY 2018 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law. In reaction to this news, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) released the following statement:

“I’m glad to see the President sign this important authorization into law today, especially after it received such strong bipartisan support here in Congress. This NDAA is critically important to our Armed Forces and Department of Defense. Our military is in need of the robust funding to address our readiness crisis with a balanced approach to allocating such resources.

“I am also pleased to see this bill signed into law today because it contains a provision I have long advocated for and supported: 3,500 additional special immigrant visas (SIVs) for Afghan translators and interpreters who served with the U.S. and our allies. These brave men and women risked their lives to assist us during the War in Afghanistan, and are now facing threats to their lives from terrorist groups. We must uphold our core values and leave no man behind.”
