WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) announced the winner of the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for the 16th District of Illinois and released this statement:
“This year, our winner is Mario Rocha of Rochelle Township High School. I had the privilege of meeting with Mario and his art teacher Mrs. Beth Mock, as well as one of our Honorable Mention Winners, Alva Valle, also from Rochelle, to share the news.
“Mario’s work of art, “Promise Me,” was done using pen and the piece was selected out of 40 art submissions – the most our office has ever received! As the winning piece, “Promise Me” will be displayed here in Washington, D.C. in the halls of the U.S. Capitol for one full year. The three Honorable Mentions winners will have their artwork displayed in my District Offices in Ottawa, Rockford, and Watseka.
“On behalf of the 16th Congressional District, I’m proud to congratulate Mario and our Honorable Mentions – we’re fortunate to have your artwork adorn our walls. Special thank you to everyone who participated this year for sending in such impressive artwork. We have great talent in the 16th district, and I’m grateful to each student who shared their talent with us this year.”
