ROCHELLE — Rep. Adam Kinzinger, IL-16th District, recently announced that Mario Rocha of Rochelle Township High School won the 2018 Congressional Art Competition for the 16th District of Illinois.

Mario’s work of art, “Promise Me,” was done using pen, and the piece was selected out of 40 art submissions. The piece will be displayed in Washington, D.C., in the halls of the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Alva Valle of Rochelle won an Honorable Mention award for her piece, “Back to My Roots,” which was done in color pencil. Alva’s artwork displayed in Kinzinger’s district offices in Rockford.
