Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) voted in favor of H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018, also known as the 2018 Farm Bill, to support our farmers, ranchers, and rural America.

The legislation, which passed the House today and has the support of President Trump, is the culmination of three years of work and over 160 hearings by Chairman Conaway and the House Agriculture Committee.

Following the passage of H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018, Congressman Kinzinger released the following statement:

“Today, I voted in favor of the 2018 Farm Bill in support of the agriculture community and to stand with our farmers, ranchers, and rural America. This legislation protects crop insurance, which is vital to the farm safety net, and includes important programs that promote trade and international market development for our commodities.

“The bill also includes reasonable, but meaningful, work requirements with federal investments to help unemployed or underemployed Americans into jobs that will lead to independence and self-sufficiency. This measure encourages job-training, and helps states and employers fill these job openings.

“America was built on hard work and ingenuity, and our agriculture community knows that first hand. The 2018 Farm Bill is a critical piece of legislation that advances important priorities for our farmers and gives them the certainty they need to provide food security to the world. I look forward to seeing this measure reach the President’s desk soon.”
