Washington, DC – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 5895, which includes funding for military, veterans, water infrastructure and more:

“Today, the House fulfilled one of its primary responsibilities and passed an appropriations package to fund the government, our military and their families, and our waterway infrastructures nationwide. This ‘minibus’ package bolsters U.S. energy and infrastructure, funds the VA MISSION Act to better care for our veterans, and makes the government more fiscally responsible.

“This package also prioritizes safety and security, from the Capitol in D.C. and across the country. As a staunch supporter of a strong nuclear national security, I was proud to vote in favor of this measure because it allocates funding for research and development of our nuclear deterrence, and for a stronger energy infrastructure against attacks, cyber and otherwise.

“As we approach the September 30 deadline, it’s crucial that we work together in Congress to ensure we get these measures to the President’s desk in time. The passage of this measure today shows a long-overdue return to regular order and provides the certainty to the federal government our country needs.”
