Kinzinger, along with U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, U.S. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos and Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, announced the city of Rockford will receive nearly $450,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women.
The funding will allow Rockford to establish a Family Justice Center, which will provide comprehensive services to aid victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.
The Family Justice Center will provide victims with a single location to access resources and services.
FJC will bring together law enforcement personnel, medical providers, prosecutors, social service representatives and mental health professionals together with the goal of providing victim-centered services for victims and their families.
Kinzinger said in a statement the funding will help streamline the system to provide victims the services and support they need and Durbin stated this approach is critical to reducing trauma and providing tools and resources victims need to heal and move forward with their lives.
