“Today, we lost a respected member of our community, a man who served the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for the last 13 years with honor and courage. The death of Deputy Sheriff Jake Keltner is a devastating loss, and my heartfelt prayers are with his family and loved ones. 

“As we continue to monitor the active shooter situation in Rockford, I am incredibly grateful to the brave men and women who serve and sacrifice to keep us safe. Now more than ever, may we remember that our law enforcement is the thin blue line between order and chaos. Today, and every day, our heroes in blue selflessly put their lives on the line to protect us. Today, and every day, let’s share our gratitude.”
