ROCKFORD, IL – Yesterday, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) welcomed NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine to Rockford for the 2019 Aerospace Symposium hosted by Rockford Area Aerospace Network (RAAN).  The full day event focused on industrial automation, supplier and workforce development, and provided attendees with important updates about the aerospace industry.

As the special guest, Congressman Kinzinger introduced his friend and former colleague Administrator Bridenstine to give the keynote speech and share what NASA has planned for its aerospace missions and overall growth. Following the event, Congressman Kinzinger released this statement:

“It was an honor to welcome my friend Jim Bridenstine to the Rockford area, and to work with my former House colleague in his capacity as NASA Administrator. I’m grateful to Jim for his time this week, and to the RAAN and RAEDC for putting on such a successful event. As Jim said, there is great potential here in Rockford for job growth through our innovation and advancements in manufacturing and aviation. By bringing together over 200 manufactures, suppliers, developers, and visionaries, this event further renewed the interest and enthusiasm for expanding our aerospace program, and helped highlight the opportunities right here in our communities.

“This summer, we’ll celebrate 50 years since the successful NASA mission to the moon by Apollo 11. We have learned a great deal from that historic moment for mankind, but our space exploration must continue. During the keynote speech, I was very encouraged to hear Administrator Bridenstine say that NASA is planning for another mission to the Moon and beyond. This new era in space exploration provides us with new challenges to overcome, and I feel confident that by working together, we will succeed.”
