Channahon, IL – Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) released the following statement after the announcement that Congressman John Shimkus (IL-15) will not run for reelection:

“John Shimkus is one of the greats. He was instrumental in paving the way for the energy revolution we’ve seen in the past decade and ensuring that America is the global leader in telecommunication and technology.

“For over 20 years, John has served this country and the state of Illinois with honor and integrity. For nearly 10 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to call John my mentor, colleague, and friend.

“This institution and our Illinois delegation is better for his years of dedicated service and kind-hearted leadership. I’m grateful to John, and while he will be greatly missed in Washington, I know his family will be happy to have him back home.”
