Rep. Kinzinger Announces Card Drive for IL Veterans
Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) and his staff will be collecting holiday greeting cards and letters for the residents of the La Salle Veterans Home.
UPDATE: Due to concerns over the rapidly spreading coronavirus, Congressman Kinzinger will no longer be hand-delivering the submissions from the St. Patrick’s Day Card Drive to our La Salle Veterans Home residents directly. Our senior citizens are most likely to suffer the most severe complications from this virus, and we must take every precaution to keep them safe. The Congressman is grateful to the La Salle Veterans Home staff for their efforts to protect our veterans, and pleased to know these heroes will still receive the cards submitted for this year’s card drive. On behalf of the entire Office of Congressman Kinzinger, we thank everyone who sent in their cards, limericks, and well wishes to bring a smile to our veterans and recognize their service.
In making the announcement, Congressman Kinzinger released the following statement:
“As Americans, we are lucky to live in the land of the free because of the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed, to defend this great nation and the values we hold dear. It’s important to celebrate and recognize the unwavering dedication our veterans devout to our country and communities. And I believe we can—and should—show our veterans know how much we appreciate them any time throughout the year.
“So after a great success last year, I ask you to please join me in sharing our heartfelt thanks and good wishes to our hometown heroes this St. Patrick’s Day. To participate, please mail your cards, letters, Irish blessings or proverbs to my Ottawa office at 628 Columbus Street. If you’re in the area, please drop it off at the office during normal business hours. Our collection deadline will be COB on Tuesday, March 17, 2019, and the cards will be delivered to the Illinois Veterans Home a wee bit after. Thank you in advance for your help in making this card drive special.”
For anyone with follow-up questions or clarifications, please contact the Congressman’s Ottawa Office and a member of the staff will be available to assist.
