WCSJ News: Coal City Fire Protection District Receives More Than $170,000 in Grants From FEMA
The Coal City Fire Protection District received two grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The fire department was awarded $164,861 for the purchase of replacement Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus air packs.
These air-packs are used for firefighters to enter areas that would be toxic atmospheres. Many of the air packs being replaced are more than 20 years old. The district is currently evaluating the best option for replacement.
The fire department also received $6,637 to supplement supplies to be used for the COVID-19 response. This grant will include better and more efficient ways of cleaning ambulances, equipment and supplies.
Fire District President Randy Alderson said these funds will help us to continue to provide the best safety equipment available to our members to help protect the public.
