Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) announced the start of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for the 16th Congressional District of Illinois. The Office of Congressman Kinzinger is pleased to begin accepting submissions from all interested high school students that live in the district and want to participate in the 41st year of this congressional competition.

In making this announcement, Congressman Kinzinger released the following statement:

“Each year, we get the opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent from students across America through the Congressional Art Competition. And every year, I continue to be amazed by the creativity and quality of artwork students in the 16th District submit. I look forward to seeing the pieces our students create this year to showcase their talents so that the entire country can appreciate the incredible skills from within our district.”

The Congressional Art Competition offers high school students from across the country to showcase their artistic abilities and creativity. First-place winners will have their artwork displayed in the Cannon Tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol for one full year.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Congressional Institute was unable to host an in-person reception in both 2020 and 2021. If one is possible this year, the winner will be awarded two tickets to Washington, D.C. to attend the official art show opening and a subsequent reception.

The submission deadline for the 41st Annual Congressional Art Competition is Friday, April 29th at 5:00pm CT in the Ottawa District Office. All high school students living in Illinois’ 16th Congressional District are encouraged to participate.
